Donating to ODCD

Each should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver (2 Corinthians 9 v 7).

The Oxford Diocesan Council for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing needs your support to maintain its ministry.

Just over 60% of ODCD’s income comes from the Diocese of Oxford, with the remainder from dividends and interest on ODCD’s investments. A small amount of our income comes from occasional grants, legacies, donations and church collections. However,  despite employing only a very small team of one administrator and the equivalent of one full time Chaplain, for the last few years, income has fallen short of expenditure and ODCD’s reserves are gradually being depleted.

It is essential for ODCD to reach a position where income covers the annual running costs and builds up its financial reserves to enable us to do more for the deaf and hard of hearing in the future. This will only be achievable if voluntary donations and legacies are increased.

There are a number of ways you can donate and hep support our important work:

Online giving

ODCD is able to receive donations through a number of online giving websites. These are listed to the right of this page.

By bank transfer

Donations can be made by transferring the amount directly to

Nat West Bank
Account No.: 20524331
Sort Code: 60-03-57

If you require an acknowledgement, please let Fiona McNally know that you have made the transfer. Her contact details can be found on the Contact Us page.

This is our preferred method to receive donations, to save on administrative costs.

By cheque

You can also donate by cheque (made payable to ODCD). All donations will be acknowledged. Please send your cheque FAO the Pastoral, Finance and Administrative Secretary, Miss Fiona McNally (see Contact Us page for details).

Why not set up a regular standing order?

A regular standing order paying a fixed amount every month, quarter or year is easy to set up and very helpful to ODCD.

Download a standing order form and send this to the Pastoral, Finance and Administrative Secretary, Miss Fiona McNally (see Contact Us for details). This will be logged, acknowledged and forwarded on to your bank for payment.

Gift Aid

If you pay income tax, or have a capital gains tax liability, it is possible for ODCD to reclaim the tax which you have already paid on the money you donate. At present, ODCD can reclaim 25p for every £1 that is donated through Gift Aid.

All that you need to do is complete and sign a Gift Aid Declaration Form and send this to the Pastoral, Finance and Administrative Secretary, Miss Fiona McNally (see Contact Us page for details).

You do not need to disclose details of your income or tax affairs; these remain your private affair.

Once signed, Oxford Diocesan Council for the Deaf keeps the declaration. All identifiable donations, which you make, can then qualify for a tax refund, at no extra cost to you.

The declaration must include your full name and post code as this is the way the Inland Revenue will be able to identify you as the donor.

CAF, Stewardship, TCS or similar

Organisations such as Charities Aid Foundation, Stewardship and The Charity Service provide a means of tax efficient giving. When you donate through them, they reclaim the tax and you make donations that are already tax enhanced. Individual donations can be made through those organisations and most will also set up regular standing orders.

If you have an asset such as an investment that would incur a Capital Gains Tax liability if sold, you could donate the asset directly to ODCD, who could sell the asset at full value without incurring any tax liability.
